Warm Design is a curatorial experiment identifying the characteristics of design that can be conceptualised as warm. The idea of Warm Design evolved from a conversation between Phoebe Adams and Sara Lindsay after Design Tasmania’s, Women in Design symposium in 2016. Sara and Phoebe proposed that Warm Design could be a way to describe design practice that combines design with visual art practice.
The curators propose that design can be warmed by the presence of emotional content, through ways of making, materiality and the expression socio-political concerns. This exhibition aims to discover, identify and explore the efficacy of this interdisciplinary framework.
